ITEM (05/09/2023) Professional photographer Allen Litten passed away on 05/05/2023 at age of 88.  Allen gave various presentations to club members.
ITEM (05/02/2023 - The Supreme Court has said that, to be creative, a work must have a “spark” and “modicum” of creativity. There are some things, however, that are not creative, like: titles, names, short phrases, and slogans; familiar symbols or designs; mere variations of typographic ornamentation, lettering, or coloring; and mere listings of ingredients or contents. And always keep in mind that copyright protects expression, and never ideas, procedures, methods, systems, processes, concepts, principles, or discoveries. ITEM (07/06/2016): Submitting photos to news media:  If you want to submit a photo to a news organization, read carefully their requirements. For example, here is the WHSV TV in Harrisonburg VA conditions for submission of photos or videos.
I grant to Gray Television Group, Inc., its licensees, and assigns (collectively, “Company”) a world-wide, payment and royalty free, perpetual, irrevocable and non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, create derivative works from, distribute, promote, market, advertise, and display the Work, for any purpose including in connection with any program, posting or other use by Company, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed.
Note that you are giving them free use of your photo for ever and without compensation. A photo with no monetary value today could be valuable in the future. So be careful when agreeing to licensing agreements to the media, photo contests, photo magazines, etc.

ITEM:  Copyright - Legal declaration that you are the author.
You cannot bring a copyright infringement lawsuit until it is registered.  Placing "© 2016 Name" does not give you access to the court.  If your work is not registered prior to infringement or within three months of publication, you cannot collect statutory damages and attorney’s fees.  So, before you release that great photo into the world, copyright it first.  If you do it electronically, it should take about 3 months.
